The sequence of char dham yatra:
The traditional sequence of the Char Dham Yatra starts from the west and proceeds towards the east. The recommended sequence is as follows:
Yamunotri: Our Yatra usually begins with a visit to Yamunotri, the westernmost shrine. It is the source of the Yamuna River and is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Pilgrims trek from the town of Hanuman Chatti to reach the Yamunotri Temple.
Gangotri: After visiting Yamunotri, the next stop is Gangotri, located in the Uttarkashi district. Gangotri is the source of the holy River Ganga (Ganges). Pilgrims travel from Yamunotri to Harsil and then proceed to Gangotri, where they visit the Gangotri Temple.
Kedarnath: After completing the Gangotri visit, pilgrims move towards Kedarnath, which is located in the Rudraprayag district. Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. To reach Kedarnath, devotees can either trek along a 16-kilometer path from Gaurikund or opt for helicopter services.
Badrinath: The final stop of our journey is Badrinath, situated in the Chamoli district. Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is considered one of the holiest Hindu temples. Pilgrims travel from Kedarnath to reach Badrinath, where they visit the Badrinath Temple.
After completing the visit to Badrinath, the Char Dham Yatra is considered complete. However, some people also include additional destinations such as Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers in their itinerary, which are located in close proximity to the Badrinath region.

What is the logic behind Char Dham?
Hindus believe in the four Yugas, or epochs, they are:
Satya Yuga: The Age of Truth
Treta Yuga: The Age of Treta
Dwapara Yuga: The Age of Dwapara
Kali Yuga: The Age of Kali
Each of the four Char Dhams is associated with one of the four Yugas.
Badrinath: Satyuga
Kedarnath: Treta Yuga
Gangotri: Dwapara Yuga
Yamunotri: Kali Yuga
It is believed that by visiting all four Char Dhams, pilgrims can cleanse themselves of their sins and attain moksha, or liberation.
The Char Dhams are also located in different parts of India, which represents the diversity of the country. This is seen as a way to unite Hindus from all over India and to promote religious harmony.
This trip is a challenging but rewarding journey. It is a chance to experience the beauty of the Himalayas, to learn about Hindu history and culture, and to connect with one’s spiritual side.
